    Description

    Dermol Cream – 100g

Dermol Cream is an emollient (moisturising) cream used to soothe and relieve dry, itchy skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, and other forms of dry skin. It can also be used as a soap substitute to help protect sensitive or broken skin during washing.

    How It Works

Dermol Cream works in two ways: the paraffin ingredients (liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate) form a protective layer on the skin to lock in moisture and prevent dryness, whilst the antimicrobial ingredients (benzalkonium chloride and chlorhexidine dihydrochloride) help reduce bacteria on the skin’s surface. This combined action helps to moisturise, soothe, and protect skin that is prone to infection, which is common in conditions like eczema.

    Directions for Use

Apply Dermol Cream directly to the affected area of skin as often as needed, or as directed by your doctor. It can also be used as a soap substitute — apply to wet or dry skin, lather gently, and rinse off. It is suitable for adults and children of all ages, including babies, unless otherwise advised by a healthcare professional. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Liquid paraffin 10% w/w
    • Isopropyl myristate 10% w/w
    • Benzalkonium chloride 0.1% w/w
    • Chlorhexidine dihydrochloride 0.1% w/w

    Possible Side Effects

    • Skin irritation or redness at the site of application
    • A burning or stinging sensation, particularly on broken or sensitive skin
    • Allergic skin reactions such as a rash or itching
    • Rarely, a more severe allergic reaction (hypersensitivity)
“If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.”

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • People with a known allergy to benzalkonium chloride, chlorhexidine, liquid paraffin, isopropyl myristate, or any other ingredient in the cream
    • Do not apply to open wounds or deep cuts without first seeking medical advice
    • Avoid contact with the eyes
    • Do not use near naked flames or lit cigarettes — paraffin-based products on clothing or bedding are flammable

    Interactions

Dermol Cream is applied to the skin and is not expected to interact significantly with other medicines taken orally or by other routes. However, chlorhexidine may react with some other topical preparations if applied to the same area at the same time, so it is advisable to allow one product to be absorbed before applying another. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Dermol Cream is generally considered suitable for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as it is applied to the skin and absorption into the bloodstream is minimal. However, avoid applying the cream to the nipple area if breastfeeding, to prevent the baby coming into contact with the active ingredients. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known interaction between Dermol Cream and alcohol. This product is applied topically to the skin and is not affected by alcohol consumption.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Dermol Cream does not cause drowsiness and is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. It is a topical product applied to the skin only.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not refrigerate. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
